Biowulf cluster migrating to RHEL8/Rocky8 in June 2023
Date: 30 May 2023 10:05:23
From: "Susan Chacko "
The Biowulf cluster, login node, and the Helix interactive data transfer
node will be migrated from the RHEL7/CentOS7 operating system to
RHEL8/Rocky8 during the weekend of 23-25 June 2023. Details about the
migration will be provided in future emails.
All users now have access to the RHEL8/Rocky8 cluster. It is highly
recommended that users test their pipelines, workflows and applications
on the RHEL8/Rocky8 cluster to ensure that the transition is seamless
for them, and that their workflows will continue to work after the
transition.
Please see https://hpc.nih.gov/docs/rhel8.html for information about
accessing the RHEL8/Rocky8 cluster.
Please note:
* The test RHEL8/Rocky8 cluster is small, since the majority of the
Biowulf hardware remains on the main RHEL7/Centos7 cluster. More nodes
will be moved to the RHEL8/Rocky8 cluster over the next 3 weeks.
* In most cases, only the latest one or two versions of each application
have been migrated to RHEL8. If your scripts specify a version of an
application, you may need to update your scripts. If you absolutely
require an older version of an application, let us know.
Let us know of any questions or concerns,
