Biowulf / HPC systems outage this afternoon

HPC Users,

A configuration issue on HPC's Ethernet switching infrastructure caused 
Biowulf and other HPC services to lose their link to the NIH backbone at 
approximately 2:30 PM. With assistance from CIT facilities and network 
services, we were able to diagnose and resolve the problem at 
approximately 4:55 PM. All systems are currently back on-line. We deeply 
regret this outage and the problems it caused, and we are continuing to 
work to understand the root cause of the problem. We believe that we 
have taken measures to prevent a recurrence.
