Disk Storage
--------------
The NIH HPC staff is pleased to announce that 1.9 PetaBytes of additional disk storage has been added to the HPC storage systems. 1.9 PetaBytes more will be added over the course of the next few months. Users may request additional disk storage for their active projects at
https://hpc.nih.gov/nih/storage_request.html
Additional Biowulf CPUs coming soon!
--------------------------------------
An additional 30,000 cores will be added to the Biowulf cluster in August 2016. The new nodes will have
- 28 cores (= 56 CPUs)
- 256 GB of memory
- 480 GB SSD local disk,
- connected via 56 Gb/s FDR Infiniband.
There will be some changes to the batch system partitions when these nodes come online, which will simplify partitions and allow users to access more resources than at present. Details will be provided in future emails.

HPC Charges
----------------
Users are now charged a simple flat rate of $35/month for their HPC account (formerly Helix account), which includes access to Helix and the Biowulf cluster. There are no charges for storage. More information can be found at https://hpc.nih.gov/docs/accounts.html#charges.
HPC Accounts
-----------------
All users are being transitioned to HPC accounts, which will give them access to both Helix and Biowulf. All users, including those who currently have only a Helix account, will be required to renew their accounts and get approval from their PIs in September 2016. The renewal process is designed to be simple and to not disrupt your work. More information about the renewal process will be sent out in August/September.
As always, send email to staff@hpc.nih.gov with any questions.
