REMINDER: NIH HPC Biowulf/Helix/Felix DOWNTIME, Monday November 5, 2018
Date: 29 October 2018 13:10:28
From: HPC Systems Staff
NIH HPC Users,
A reminder that the NIH Biowulf Cluster, Helix and Felix will be unavailable on Monday November 5 from 7 am until 1 pm for storage system maintenance.
During this maintenance window, the Helix data transfer node will be transitioned to a new, more powerful hardware platform running Red Hat 7. The new Helix system will include 48 x 3 GHz compute cores, 1.5 TB of memory and more network capacity than the current system. Helix will continue to be dedicated to interactive data transfer, and users should run all data transfer processes such as scp, Aspera transfers, rsync and wget/curl as well as large file management processes on this system. No scientific applications are available on Helix.
In addition after the transition, NoMachine (NX) on Helix will use the more intuitive and lightweight Xfce desktop interface, identical to the environment that currently runs on the Biowulf login node.
