Using Helix for Data Transfer and File Management
Date: 29 May 2019 11:05:40
From: "Elghraoui, Afif [C]"
NIH HPC users,
As part of the cluster upgrade last year, Helix transitioned to becoming
the dedicated interactive data transfer and file management node [1] and
its hardware was later upgraded to support this role [2]. Running
processes such as scp, rsync, tar, and gzip on the Biowulf login node
has been discouraged ever since.
Effective immediately, long-running data transfer processes and
intensive file compressions on the Biowulf login node will be subject to
termination. All such interactive data transfer/file management
processes should be run on Helix.
